Membership Structure
Membership will not be available until May of 2012, as we are gathering affiliates,
endorsements, and partners to offer the membership base benefits on both products
and services in the EMS and non-EMS markets.
The following reflects the membership structure to date. Changes may be made by
the Board of Directors and Board of Representatives.
The California Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (CAAEMT) is a California
non-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to provide resources, education, discounts,
and protocol leverage to the Emergency Medical Services practitioners of California.
Beyond support for certified EMS field providers, the CAAEMT recognizes that Emergency
Medical Dispatchers (EMD), retired EMS personnel, EMS educators, and EMS managers
play a vital role in the success of our profession. It is the intent then, for the
CAAEMT to recognize these participants in the EMS system as essential and include
them as active members, if they so see fit to join under the active members clause
of the Corporation's bylaws.
Inactive membership will be available to any individual who does not meet the requirements
for active membership and has, at some time in their career, held a California state
certification as an Emergency Medical Responder (formerly First Responder), Emergency
Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (formerly EMT-I), or Paramedic,
and did not lose that license by means of revocation or disciplinary action by either
the California EMS Authority (CA EMSA) or a Local EMS Agency (LEMSA). Emergency Medical Dispatchers may
also attain inactive membership status. Inactive members will have no voting rights
during Regional Representative elections, but will have access to all other member
benefits.
Affiliate membership will be granted to any individual who pays the membership fee.
Affiliate members will have no voting rights during Regional Representative elections,
but will have access to all other member benefits.
Any individual who is currently enrolled in a program of study that is based in
Emergency Medical Services, and such enrollment can be verified by proof of transcript,
is eligible to obtain a student membership at a discounted rate. Membership benefits
will be limited, and the student will be ineligible to vote in Regional Representative
elections; however, upon graduation and State certification, the student may be
upgraded to a full membership after paying the difference between the student membership
dues and active member dues. This student will be granted a full year of member
benefits upon receipt of proof of certification and payment of dues.
